Hey friend! ✈️ If you've ever wondered how to travel in style without breaking the bank, you're in the right place! I’m about to share my secret tips for scoring those first-class upgrades and dreamy hotel deals that will have you feeling like royalty—without paying those crazy prices.

1. Use Frequent Flyer Miles (Even If You’re New)

If you're not already signed up for a frequent flyer program, go ahead and do that now! Even if you don’t fly all the time, these programs can help you rack up miles quickly. I personally love using my miles for upgrades. Sometimes, they’ll even offer discounted miles for an upgrade, which can be a game-changer. Bonus tip: Keep an eye out for promotions where you can earn extra miles. I always do, and they add up faster than you'd think!

2. Book Your Flight at the Right Time

Timing is everything. I’ve found that booking flights about 6-8 weeks in advance can land you great deals on both economy and premium tickets. Also, consider flying mid-week instead of weekends; it’s usually less crowded, and you’ll have a better chance of snagging an upgrade if the flight isn’t packed.

3. Be Flexible with Your Travel Dates

Flexibility can be your best friend. If you have a little wiggle room on when you can travel, you’re more likely to score great deals. I usually check out a couple of different dates to see if there's any significant price difference. The fewer passengers on your flight, the higher your chances for an upgrade, so being flexible really pays off!

4. Check for Last-Minute Upgrade Offers

Sometimes, airlines will offer last-minute upgrade options for a fraction of the full-price premium ticket. After you book your flight, check if there are upgrade options available. I’ve had luck grabbing an upgrade offer at a really affordable rate just by keeping an eye on my booking.

5. Take Advantage of Hotel Loyalty Programs

Just like frequent flyer miles, many hotel chains have loyalty programs that can help you score upgrades and deals. I use these programs all the time—whether I’m traveling for business or pleasure. Booking directly through the hotel’s website often gives you extra perks, like a complimentary upgrade or discounts on future stays. And if you’re a member of their loyalty program, you can sometimes get a room upgrade just for being loyal.

6. Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for Upgrades

This one might sound a little bold, but it works! When checking in, politely ask if there are any complimentary upgrades available. I’ve been surprised by how often this works, especially if you’re booking through a smaller boutique hotel or if it’s a special occasion like your birthday or anniversary. Hotels and airlines love to treat their guests when they can.

7. Book Your Travel During Off-Peak Seasons

Traveling during the off-peak seasons is one of the easiest ways to find great flight deals and hotel discounts. Think outside the box—travel to popular destinations when they’re less crowded and hotels are more likely to have rooms available for upgrades. And bonus: you won’t have to deal with the stress of crowded tourist spots!

8. Combine Deals with Credit Card Perks

If you have a travel-focused credit card, you may be able to get upgraded to first class or enjoy discounted rates on hotels just by using your card. Some cards also offer bonus miles or points for your purchases, which you can later redeem for upgrades or hotel stays. I love this because I don’t even have to think about it—my card does the heavy lifting for me.

9. Use Websites to Find Deals

There are some great tools out there for snagging last-minute travel deals. Websites like Secret Flying and Scott’s Cheap Flights often post flash deals and fare mistakes that can save you a ton. I’ve booked flights this way that would have cost 3x as much if I’d gone through the regular channels. Definitely worth checking out!
